Insulin:
Before insulin had been discovered, diabetes had made a huge impact on the world. Insulin had been discovered by Frederick Banting, Charles H. Bating, and John Macleod on July 30, 1921. To create the insulin they had purified pancreas from cows and pigs killed for food. However, as well as penicillin insulin was a big deal also because now diabetes can be cured. Their discovery had then led Banting to become the Senior Demonstrator in Medicine in 1922 at the University of Toronto. In 1923 he was elected to the Banting and Best Chair of Medical Research. Although his fame wasn't over because he also was appointed the Honorary Consulting Physician to the Toronto General Hospital, the Hospital for Sick Children, and the Toronto Western Hospital. They had later won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1923.
