Gertrude Ederle Swims Across English-Channel:
Gertrude Ederle did something no one could accomplish. It was in 1926 when 19 year-old Gertrude Ederle fulfilled her dream. She became the first woman to cross the English Channel by swimming 21 miles from Dover to Cape Griz-Nez in England. It took her 14 hours and 39 minutes to swim across the English Channel.
